W. DALLENBACH DIED TUESDAY AT BURNHAM

William Christian Dallenbach, 88, life-long resident of Champaign and former director of the Champaign National bank, died at 12:30 p.m., Tuesday at Burnham city hospital. He had entered the hospital Sunday following a fall at his home, 211 West park street, in which he fractured his arm. He had been in ill health for more than a year.

In 1877, Mr. Dallenbach and his brother, John, who had been working for their father at the Dallenbach livestock market, took over the management of the livestock agency, and the meat market which operated with it. In 1917, after almost 40 years, the market was closed, and Mr. Dallenbach opened the brokerage and loan business which he headed until his retirement recently.

Mr. Dallenbach was also president of the Champaign Mutual Plate and Glass company and was named as director of the Champaign National bank in 1906. He retired from the board in January after 39 years of service.

Born August 12, 1857, in Champaign, he was the son of Mr. and Mrs. John Dallenbach, prominent local residents. Mr. Dallenbach was married to the former Bertha Oberreich in Sheboygan, August 3, 1881, and she preceded him in death January 19, 1938.

Survivors include a son, W.C. Dallenbach, jr., 613 West University avenue; two daughters, Mrs. Glenore Caton, who had been making her home with her father, and Mrs. Hazel Turner, who has been living in Los Angeles, Col., (sic) for several years; five grandchildren, Mrs. Jack Noel, 1005 West Hill street; W.C. Caton, Brussels, Belgium; Doris and Adah Margaret Turner, and Billy Dallenbach, all of Champaign. Doctor J.C. Dallenbach, 1018 West Church street, Louis Dallenbach, route 2, Champaign, and Doctor Karl Dallenbach, Ithaca, N.Y. are nephews.

He was also preceded in death by a granddaughter, Alice Lee Dallenbach, of Champaign.

The Mittendorf funeral home is in charge of arrangements. Funeral arrangements are incomplete, pending word from Mrs. Turner, who is on her way back from Los Angeles.7,6
